I'd like to share my story with you. I wasn’t always the person I am today. On the outside, I looked the part. But inside, I felt alone, tired, and stressed. I was sad and stuck in a cycle of dissatisfaction.
A health scare in the FedEx parking lot led me to a hospital emergency room. What I’d thought was a stroke was actually stress.
That’s when it hit home. I had to recommit to my own self-care. I taught meditation and mindfulness for a living, yet I didn’t create the space for my own personal practice.
I had all the external trappings of a successful life, but inside I was missing me – missing my joy.
What I didn’t realize at the time is that joy is a habit.
It took chronic stress and a lack of work-life balance for me to figure that out. Sitting in that emergency room, I knew something had to change.
I also knew that I couldn’t stop there. I had a deep sense that I needed to share my story with the world.
